Tim Tebow is the most polarizing Minor League baseball player since Michael Jordan in 1994, but some are wondering if the New York Mets are keeping him around for publicity. This, our fellow gamblers, is something you can actually bet on.
The 2009 Heisman Trophy winner who began playing professional baseball last year is 6/1 to play in an MLB game in 2018 or 2019. More likely, say the oddsmakers, Tebow will fail to achieve that lofty goal (1/10)
You can also bet on the former quarterback’s chances of making it to the AAA level.

Is it a Publicity Stunt?
New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson insists Tebow isn’t around to sell Minor League tickets and suggests the two-time college football national champion is on the verge of getting to baseball’s highest level. But many aren’t buying it, and for good reason.
Tebow, in his first year as a professional baseball player, hit just .226 with 8 homers in 486 plate appearances at the lowest Minor League levels. Now, at age 30, it’s unlikely he’ll develop into a big league-ready player, at least not in the near future.

If you’re basing your wager solely on Tebow’s expected Minor League performance, you’ll likely bet against him making it to the majors. But there are some other factors you should consider before logging on to your favorite online sportsbook.
The New York Mets finished the 2017 season with a miserable 70-92 record, good for 27 games behind NL East champion Washington. And things aren’t looking much better for the upcoming season. Bleacher Report projects the Mets to win 80 games, an improvement from last season but still not enough wins to make the postseason.
What does this have to do with Tebow? If the Mets are out of contention in September, there is always a chance Alderson could decide to call up the former Florida Gator as a marketing ploy to sell tickets, especially to attract those who appreciate Tebow’s outspoken Christian beliefs.
And there’s always a chance Tebow, a gifted athlete who was a Heisman Trophy candidate three times during his college football career, could actually progress at an unexpected rate.
We aren’t trying to sway you into betting one way or the other, but we do want to make you aware of every angle so you don’t just throw away your money.
