The 2019 Tour de France paused for the first rest day this year and Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe holds a slim lead over defending champion Geraint Thomas after ten stages, but Thomas is still the favorite to win the Tour de France at 4/6 odds.
Thomas’ teammate at Ineos, Egan Bernal, is listed at 10/3 odds to win the Tour de France according to William Hill.
Alaphilippe, riding for Deceuninck-QuickStep, is currently 14/1 odds to win.
Thomas is 1:12 behind Alaphilippe and Bernal is 1:16 back.
At least 84 riders are more than an hour behind Alaphilippe compared to only 45 from last year’s tour. Several of the favorites coming into the race lost serious time in Stage 10 including Fuglsang (Astana), Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ), and Richoe Porte (Trek-Segafredo).

Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) and Nairo Quintana (Movistar) are both 12/1 odds. Quintana is only 2:04 behind and sitting in eighth overall. Pinot is in 11 th overall and 2:33 back.
Jumbo-Visma Booming
Team Jumbo-Visma is currently seventh, but the favorites at Team Ineos (formerly Sky) are not far behind in ninth overall.
The Jumbo-Visma Triple Threat is comprised of Wout van Aert, Dylan Groenewegen, and Mike Teunissen. Overall, the Dutchies/Belgians on J-V won four different stages. Wout van Aert took down Stage 10 after winning a sprint.
Meanwhile, their big dog Steven Kruijswijk is currently fourth overall and only 1:24 behind Alaphilippe.
The bookies listed Kruijswijk at 16/1 odds, which might be one of the best value bets on the board. A Dutch rider has not won in over forty years, but Kruijswijk might be the one rider to snap that streak.
Even without an injured Chris Froome, Team Ineos is thriving due to the tandem of Thomas and Bernal.
On Deck: Stage 11
Stage 11 features a flat 167 km ride from Albi to Toulouse before the tour hits the Pyrenees. Stage 11 will favor sprinters with a flat terrain in the second half of this stage. Sprinters are favorites to win Stage 11 with Jumbo-Visma’s Dylan Groenewegen and Elia Viviani are both at 2/1 odds.
Caleb Ewan at 7/2 odds and Peter Sagan at 6/1 odds are also favorites in Stage 11.
In previous years, players rest on the tenth day after Stage 9. This year’s first rest day got pushed back a day.
South Africa’s Daryl Impey won Stage 10, but he’s welcoming the day off before Stage 10.
“It’s been a pretty demanding Tour,” said Impey. “It has taken its toll on everyone. We will all be looking forward to a rest day. Against the two other Tours I’ve done this is probably one of the hardest first weeks.”
The race heads to the mountains with Stage 12 during a 209.5 km ride from Toulouse to Bagneres-de-Bigorre.
