Hollywood hosted the SAG Awards over the weekend and two wins of note that altered the betting lines and odds for the 2022 Oscars. Jessica Chastain took home the coveted “Actor” trophy in the Best Actress Category for her role in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”, and she’s now the betting favorite to win at the 2022 Oscars at +125 odds ahead of Nicole Kidman from “Meet the Ricardos” at +150 odds.
In “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”, Chastain played the real-life Tammy Faye Bakker who was the wife of infamous TV evangelist Jim Bakker. Chastain looked a little surprised when they called out her name as the winner at the SAG Awards, because Kidman was the favorite to win.
Chastain had been previously nominated at the Oscars for Best Supporting Actress in 2012 and Best Actress in 2013, but she lost both times. After her win at the SAG Awards, Chastain saw her Best Actress odds at the Oscars jump from +500 to +125.
The 2022 Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Sunday, March 27.
Kotsur Closing Gap on Smit-McPhee
In the Best Supporting Actor Category, Troy Kotsur from “CODA” won the Actor at the SAG Awards. Kotsur, who is a deaf actor, plays the role of a deaf father who has to come to grips with his daughter — who is not hearing impaired — going off to college.
Kotsur edged out Kodi Smit-McPhee from “The Power of the Dog”, and the bookies at BetMGM altered their odds. Smit-McPhee is still the favorite at -155 odds to win Best Supporting Actor at the 2022 Oscars, but Kotsur closed the gap and he’s only +110 odds in a close race.

Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog) | +3300 | +1600 |
JK Simmons (Being the Ricardos) | +3300 | +2500 |
You always need to keep a close eye on any race at the Oscars with multiple thespians from the same film in a single category. That’s the case with “The Power of the Dog” with Jesse Plemons and Smit-McPhee both up for Best Supporting Actor at the 2022 Oscars.
Prior to the SAG Awards, Smit-McPhee was the betting favorite at -350 odds versus +375 odds for Kotsur. But after winning his first Actor on Sunday, Kotsur saw his Oscars odds dramatically bump in his favor. The other nominees — Plemons, JK Simmons, and Ciaran Hinds — saw their Oscars odds drop after Kotsur won the Actor.

Chastain, Kidman Down to the Wire
It’s still a close race in the Best Actress category with Kidman not far behind Chastain on the Oscars betting board over at DraftKings. Kidman plays Lucille Ball in “Meet the Ricardos”, which is directed by Aaron Sorkin, and Kidman saw her odds drop from +120 to +150 to win Best Actress. Just 20 years ago, Kidman won her first and only Oscar in “The Hours” back in 2002. She’s seeking a second win.
