This week, the PGA Tour heads to Memphis for the FedEx-St. Jude’s Classic. TPC Southwind hosts the tournament, a par 70 course playing at 7,244 yards. This World Golf Championship event with 78 players features no cut, meaning no hard sweats for DFS players on Friday afternoon. Brooks Koepka won last year at 16 under, but his game isn’t great at the moment, so a repeat seems unlikely. Instead, consider these five golfers for your DFS rosters.
Justin Thomas ($10,700 on DraftKings, $11,700 on FanDuel)
Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau will likely find the most attention – and ownership – at the top of the salary pool, but let’s not forget about Thomas. The graduate of Alabama has nine top 10s in 14 events this season, including a second at the Workday Charity Open. He ranks first on the tour in strokes gained from tee to green over his past 50 rounds.
Daniel Berger ($9,600 on DK, $10,500 on FD)
Although Berger missed the cut at the Memorial Tournament two weeks ago, he had previously been lethal on the tour with five straight top-10 finishes, including a win at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Berger won the FedEx-St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind in 2016 and 2017, so few can match his course history. These factors will likely result in Berger being highly owned, but he may be tough to fade.
Billy Horschel ($8,500 on DK, $9,500 on FD)
Another “course horse,†Horschel posted five top-10 finishes over his past seven starts at TPC Southwind, including a tie for ninth in last year’s FedEx-St. Jude’s Classic. Horschel has also played well in recent weeks, with a seventh at the Workday Charity Open and a 13th at the Memorial Tournament.
Paul Casey ($7,800 on DK, $8,800 on FD)
Putting stats tend to be the most inconsistent among golfers, with so much variance in makes and misses. Casey lost six strokes on the field around the greens at the 3M Open last week after being a trendy pick to win the event. Casey has, in fact, lost strokes putting in five of his past six starts. That’s a stat that’s bound to change. This could be the week to roster Casey at a depressed price. He finished tied for 29th at TPC Southwind last year.
Chez Reavie ($6,700 on DK, $8,200 on FD)
In Reavie, we can roster a player with win potential for under $7K on DraftKings. He posted two top-10 finishes at TPC Southwind in the past, and notched a tie for 27th against the strong WGC field last year. Reavie has made four of five cuts since the tour resumed play in June, including a 17th at the Workday Charity Open. Reavie ranks sixth on the tour in driving accuracy percentage, hitting 70% of fairways.
