Iga Swiatek comes into the French Open semifinals as a heavy favorite to continue her 33-match winning streak and, potentially, create a dream finals matchup against Cori Gauff as the final four women clash at Roland Garros on Thursday.
DraftKings Sportsbook lists Swiatek as a massive -1100 favorite over No. 20 seed Daria Kasatkina (+650), who’s making her first semifinal experience.
Swiatek no longer a surprise at French Open
Swiatek won the 2020 French Open as a little-known outsider. Now, the 21-year-old Polish star is the clear favorite to take down her second Grand Slam title.
“This year it’s a little bit different, because I’m not an underdog,†Swiatek said after her 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jessica Pegula in the French Open quarterfinals. “Everything has changed, honestly.â€
Swiatek now stands as the -400 favorite to win the French Open this year. Her journey toward the title continues first against Kasatkina, who took down No. 29 seed Veronika Kudermetova 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in her quarterfinal. That match was marked by the fact that both players are Russian, meaning they played as neutral athletes, and won’t be able to compete at Wimbledon next month.
On the other side of the French Open draw, Coco Gauff reached her first Grand Slam semifinal with a 7-5, 6-2 win over fellow American Sloane Stephens. Gauff has won her first five matches at Roland Garros without losing a single set.
“I believe in myself,†Gauff said after the quarterfinals victory. “I know no matter how good or bad my career is, I know I’m a good person, so I think that’s a good message for young people … if you love yourself, who cares what anyone else thinks?â€
Gauff faces Trevisan in semifinal
Gauff will take on unseeded Italian Martina Trevisan in her semifinal on Thursday. Trevisan reached the French Open quarterfinals in 2020 and beat Leylah Fernandez 6-2, 6-7 (7-3), 6-3 to go one step further in this year’s tournament. She’s now won 10 straight matches, and won her first tour title in Rabat, Morocco last month.
Gauff comes into that semifinal as a -295 favorite over Trevisan (+235), with the winner heading to their first Grand Slam final.

If Swiatek and Gauff make it through to the final, it might give French Open tournament director Amelie Mauresmo the kind of women’s matchup she’s been looking to highlight at the tournament. Mauresmo made a controversial comment at a Wednesday press conference, saying she only scheduled one women’s match out of 10 night sessions at Roland Garros because of a lack of star power.
“In this era that we are in right now, I don’t feel – and as a woman, former women’s player, I don’t feel bad or unfair saying that – right now you have more … appeal,†Mauresmo told reporters. “My goal was, when I was doing the schedule every day, to try and see, from the first round … what match in the women’s draw can I put there? Honestly.â€
