With three weeks remaining in the NFL season, Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers emerged as the new betting favorite to win the MVP at +125 odds, jumping ahead of Tom Brady from the defending champion Tampa Bay Bucs.
Rodgers is the reigning NFL MVP, and he won the coveted award three previous times.
After a recent surge from the Green Bay Packers, who are now co-favorites to win the Super Bowl, the public backed Rodgers to win the MVP in recent weeks. Rodgers went from +250 to +125 odds in the last week to eclipse Brady, according to an update by DraftKings.

Brady and Josh Allen were co-favorites to win the MVP at +350 odds in Week 9 before Brady took over as the outright MVP favorite in the last month. Allen saw his odds trail off during a rough patch of games for the Buffalo Bills, and he’s now a long shot at +1800.
Repeat MVP for Rodgers, Brady
Rodgers won the MVP last season, so he’s seeking back-to-back MVP awards, which almost never happens. Peyton Manning is the last player to achieve that rare feat back in 2008 and 2009. Rodgers won the MVP three previous times and is seeking a fourth.
Brady is in the same boat. He won the MVP three times with the New England Patriots in 2007, 2010, and 2017. He would become the oldest player in history to win the MVP, which is nuts, considering he’s 44 and counting. You can back Brady to win his fourth MVP at +200 odds, which isn’t far behind Rodgers at +125 odds.
Taylor +750
Quarterbacks tend to win the MVP in the modern-day, pass-happy NFL. But, Jonathan Taylor from the Indianapolis Colts is in the middle of an outstanding season as the league’s top rusher in only his second year. He leads the NFL with 270 attempts for 1,518 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. He also added 36 receptions for 336 yards and two additional TDs.
Taylor finds himself third on the MVP board at +750 odds. He’s trying to become the first running back to win the prestigious award since Adrian Peterson in 2012.
Kupp +3500
Cooper Kupp had another monster game last night for the LA Rams in a victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He caught nine passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Kupp is the NFL’s top receiver and ranks #1 overall with 122 receptions, 1,625 yards, and 14 touchdowns. With an additional game this season, Kupp is eyeing the NFL record for all-time receptions and passing yards.
Kupp saw his MVP odd increase to +3500 this week. He’s still a long shot, and history is against him. A wide receiver has never won the NFL MVP in the history of the league. Crazy that that feat has never happened, but the old NFL used to be a run-first, smash-mouth football league. It makes sense that running backs were regarded as the NFL’s premier players in the last century. In today’s pass-oriented NFL, quarterbacks are considered the elite players. A quarterback won the MVP in eight consecutive seasons, and in 13 out of the previous 14 seasons.
