In a battle of 3-0 teams, the Arizona Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Rams to improve to 4-0 and become the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL.
The Cardinals are the only 4-0 team remaining in the league, which is an indication of the current level of parity in the NFL. After the big division win and 4-0 start, the Cardinals saw their Super Bowl 56 odds drastically climb from +3500 last week to +1600.
The Cardinals beat the Rams 37-20 and finally got off the schneid against the Rams, establishing themselves as the team to beat in the NFC West. Sean McVay and the Rams were 8-0 against the Cardinals over the last four seasons. “I feel like as a team, we’re building towards something,” said cornerback Byron Murphy. “We hadn’t beaten the Rams in how many years? I don’t know the exact number. Five years? But this is something definitely growing.”
The Rams were down 37-13 late in the fourth quarter before they scored a garbage-time touchdown to make the game seem a lot closer in the box score. Murray spread the ball around to seven different receivers with touchdown strikes to AJ Green and tight end Maxx Williams.
The Rams were unable to slow down Arizona’s rushing attack and gave up 216 yards. Chase Edmonds torched them for 120 yards on only 12 carries. James Connor rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Murray added 39 rushing yards on six carries.
In Week 5, the undefeated Cardinals (4-0) host the San Francisco 49ers (2-2). The 49ers might not have Jimmy G after a calf injury, which means rookie Trey Lance should get his first NFL start.
Oddsmakers opened Week 5’s Cardinals/49ers game with the Cards a -4 favorite.
