Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern expires next summer. The Polish superstar announced he will not extend his deal beyond 2023. Despite being on the wishlist at many top clubs in Europe, Lewandowski will not be allowed to leave the club before his contract runs out, as Bayern confirm they are not interested in cashing out on their top striker.
Chief executive Oliver Kahn said Bayern will not consider any offers this summer, despite Lewandowski asking the club to be open to proposals.
“We made an offer to his agent. He rejected the offer, that’s his right. The fact is he has a contract and he will fulfill it,” Kahn said.
“We are very clear and consistent about that. That’s the way things are here at Bayern. There is no player above the club,” the former goalkeeper stressed.

Lewandowski: ‘I am not extending my contract’
Talking to Sky Germany after scoring in Bayern’s last match of the season, the 2-2 away draw against Wolfsburg, Lewandowski revealed details about the meeting he had with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
“I can confirm that I spoke to Salihamidzic and informed him that the decision was made and that I am not extending my contract with Bayern,” Lewandowski said.
“Both sides have to think about the future. It’s best if we find the best solution for both sides,” the Bayern goal machine insisted.
“I said to Salihamidzic that if an offer comes, then we have to think about it — also for the club. Both sides have to think about the future. That’s all I can say,” Lewandowski concluded.
In his 375 at Bayern, Lewandowski scored 344 goals. He joined the club in 2014 from arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund. Wearing Bayern’s shirt, Lewandowski won eight Bundesliga titles, as well as three German Cups and the Champions League. This season alone, he netted 50 times in all competitions.
He was the favorite to win the ‘Ballon d’Or’ in 2020, but France Football finally decided against awarding the most important individual trophy given the pandemic context. In 2021, Lewandowski finished second, behind Lionel Messi, in the vote.
Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain were all rumored to be interested in signing him in 2022. Despite Bayern‘s current stance on not allowing Lewandowski to leave, the bookies have FC Barcelona at -200 to secure a transfer before the window closes on 3 November. At +600, PSG follow in the odds race, with Manchester United next among the potential destinations at +1600. Chelsea and Liverpool stand at +1800, while Newcastle is at +2100 and Arsenal at +3300.
Lewandowski won the Golden Boot in 2021, rewarding the highest goal-scorer in Europe last season. He is almost certain to win the trophy at the end of the current campaign as well.
