Cleveland Browns Injury Report: Odell Beckham Jr (Knee) to Miss Week 2

You’ll have to wait another week to see OBJ. Odell Beckham, Jr will miss Week 2 action for the Cleveland Browns when they square off against the Houston Texans. The Browns are taking a conservative approach and don’t want to rush Beckham back after knee surgery.

Beckham seemed like he would play in his first game back after recovering from an ACL injury and subsequent surgery, but he was a late scratch just before kickoff in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Odell was pushing to get there, just didn’t feel like he could play a significant number of snaps,” said head coach Kevin Stefanski.

At least for Week 2, the Browns gave everyone a couple of days’ notice that Beckham will miss action. “I just felt like for this week, the prudent thing to do was let those other receivers get all those reps and, let’s game plan accordingly,” added Stefanski.

The Browns are fresh off a loss against the Kansas City Chiefs where they choked and blew a 20-point lead against Mahomes and company. Although the Browns were able to beat the spread, they still lost by four points and allowed 23 second-half points, including 13 in the fourth quarter.

Jarvis Landry led the Browns in Week 1 with five receptions for 71 yards. Tight end David Njoku added three catches for 76 yards, including a 43-yard blast. Expect Landry to handle WR1 duties for fantasy football owners. Rookie wide receiver Anthony Schwartz, a third-round pick out of Auburn, had an impressive debut with the Browns. He finished with three catches for 69 yards. Schwartz is currently listed as questionable with a sore hamstring.

The Houston Texans (1-0) upset the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 as one of the numerous underdogs that prevailed in the opening weekend of the season. The Texans head to Cleveland as a +4.5 underdog.

The Browns are +1500 odds to win Super Bowl 56, according to the Circa Sports Book in downtown Las Vegas.
