The first Saturday in December sees a massive 14-game slate on DraftKings (which would have been 15 before the postponement of Coastal Carolina-Liberty). Most of the blue bloods appear to be in likely romps, and their players are priced up accordingly. The salary levels seem to favor more mid-tier players like Bailey Hockman and Rondell Moore in games like Nebraska-Purdue and Georgia Tech-NC State, that should have decent scoring and be competitive.

Here are six players I plan to use on Saturday.

Quarterbacks

Bailey Hockman, NC State ($7,400 on DraftKings, Game not on FanDuel) – Hockman has proven more than capable of filling in for the injured Devin Leary. Last week, he completed 23 of 31 passes for 313 yards and four touchdowns in a win against Syracuse. That represented his third outing in his past four games scoring at least 27.7 DFS points on DraftKings. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech, ranks just 102nd in the NCAA against opposing QBs in DFS. I’ll also play a lot of Jeff Sims for Tech in my super flex spot for a second quarterback this week.

Jack Plummer, Purdue ($7,900 on DK, $8,700 on FD) – As with Hockman, here’s another fill-in quarterback playing well. Plummer tossed for 604 yards and five touchdowns in his first two starts against Minnesota and Rutgers, averaging 27.8 DFS points over those two contests on DK. He could put up big numbers in a shootout against Nebraska.

Running Backs

Tyler Goodson, Iowa ($7,400 on DK, Game not on FD) – The Hawkeye’s featured back continues to see increased usage. Against Nebraska last week, he carried 30 times for 111 yards while catching two passes for 21 yards. That’s his third consecutive game with at least 20 touches. Oddsmakers predict Iowa to cruise by nearly two touchdowns against Illinois, and the game script looks good for Goodson to be called on to bleed the clock.

Kyren Williams, Notre Dame ($9,200 on DK, Game not on FD) – I won’t pay top salary for many players on Saturday, but the Fighting Irish running back is one of the few exceptions. Notre Dame continues to feed him the ball with regularity and the results show: five games with at least 100 yards rushing and 13 total touchdowns. Notre Dame should roll and Vegas projects the team to be among the highest-scoring on the slate. It would be surprising to not see Williams hit pay dirt at least once.

Wide Receivers

Thayer Thomas, NC State ($5,900 on DK, Game not on FD) – Given his past two outings in which he tallied 20 receptions for 237 yards and five TDs, it’s shocking that Thomas’ salary is this low. Just roll with it and roster him in most of your lineups, pairing him with Bailey Hockman in many of them.

Brennan Eagles, Texas ($5,800 on DK, $6,800 on FD) – Eagles has been a steady presence for Texas late in the season, averaging four catches and nearly 70 yards per game over the last four contests. He could be a sneaky selection in an expected close game between the Longhorns and Kansas State.
