Home Dog Alert: Sam Darnold Returns to the Winless Jets in Week 6

The usual losing suspects are home dogs once again in NFL Week 6 with the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals getting points at home. QB Sam Darnold returns from a bout of mono, but even with Darnold back in the lineup, the Jets are a 7-point home dog while hosting Zeke Elliot and the Dallas Cowboys.

Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns, fresh off a butt-kicking on Monday Night Football against the undefeated San Francisco Giants, are also home dogs against the visiting Seattle Seahawks.

The Tampa Bay Bucs are the designated home team in the second London game of the season. The Bucs are getting 2-points as a London dog at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

NFL HOME DOGS WEEK 6:
Cleveland Browns +2
NY Jets +7.5
Arizona Cardinals +2.5
Miami Dolphins +3.5
Tampa Bay Bucs** +2
** London, UK game

Last weekend, home dogs went 2-2 in Week 5 including the Oakland Raiders, who won the first London game of the season. The Raiders were a 5-point dog and jumped out to a 17-0 lead against the sleepwalking Chicago Bears.

Browns +2

The Cleveland Browns (2-3) opened as a small favorite but money quickly poured in on the visiting Seattle Seahawks (4-1). The line flipped and Baker Mayfield and the Browns are now getting two points instead of laying two. There was a time not too long ago in which you blindly bet the Seahawks at home in Seattle and faded them on the road. In this instance, the Browns have not looked good at all this season. The Browns through five games, especially Mayfield, failed to live up to the preseason hype. One of the two wins occurred against the NY Jets in Week 2, who did not have Sam Darnold and lost their backup QB in an ugly MNF fiasco. Aside from Nick Chubb’s monster performance in Week 4, it’s been an uneventful season for the denizens of the Dog Pound.

NY Jets +7.5

The winless New York Jets (0-4) opened Week 6 as a touchdown home dog against the visiting Dallas Cowboys (3-2). The number got bet up to 9 points before the Sunday Night Football game kicked off. When word broke on Tuesday that QB Sam Darnold returns to start his first game since Week 1, the line dropped back down to a touchdown. With Sam Darnold cleared to play after recovering from mono, the Jets settled as a 7-point dog. Even with Sam Darnold back in the mix, it’s still the same old Jets. The #LOLJets cannot score to save their lives. Dallas dropped two games in a row and they welcome an easy opponent to help get the mojo back. Nothing is better than a easy game against the Jets  to get a sidetracked team like the Cowboys back on track.

Arizona Cardinals +2.5

Rookie QB Kyler Murray and rookie coach Kliff Kingsbury finally popped their cherries with their first win in the NFL. The Cardinals (1-3-1) finally won a game when they took down the hapless Cincy Bengals. The Cards host the aimless Falcons (1-4) and have a legit shot at back-to-back wins against a team in a tailspin. Atlanta head coach Dan Quinn is in the hot seat. He is the next favorite to become the next fired head coach in the NFL. If it were not for the Washington/Miami S–t Show, this anemic Cards/Falcons game would be in contention for this week’s Degen Game of the Week.

Miami Dolphins +3.5

The battle of winless teams continues with Washington (0-5) visiting the tanking Miami Dolphins (0-4). The Skins fired Jay Gruden, but that’s just one of a hundred problems with the cursed franchise. The Dolphins are fresh off a bye week, but the extra prep time will not help a team that is in full-blown tank mode. You might as well keep fading the Dolphins who are 0-4 ATS this season.

Tampa Bay Bucs +2

This is another London Home Dog alert with the Tampa Bay Bucs (2-3) getting points as the so-called home team. Carolina (3-2) is looking good with backup QB Kyle Allen at the helm. Then again all Allen has to do is get the ball to fantasy stud Christian McCaffrey. American football fans in London will be treated CMAC Show live and in person, so long his aching back holds up. Due to the time change and jetlag, the imported London games are not the best display of competitive football for international fans. However, the NFC South divisional matchup has the potential to be an old-fashioned shootout, which should entertain the crowd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tampa has the third worst defense in the league allowing 29.6 points per game.
