The 2019 MLB season is approximately 30-games old and the Houston Astros and LA Dodgers are both 5/1 odds to win the 2019 World Series according to the South Point Casino and Sports Book in Las Vegas.
The Dodgers represented the National League in the World Series the last two seasons. They lost both times and the Dodgers were runner-ups with the Houston Astros winning in 2017 and the Boston Red Sox prevailing in 2018. The Dodgers were among the favorites heading into the winter and at the start of Spring Training.
The Boston Red Sox were also among the preseason favorites, but they have struggled at the start of this season. The World Series hangover is still lingering for the 14-17 Red Sox. It’s really not their fault after all. It’s nearly impossible to repeat as champions in baseball.

** Division Leader
The New York Yankees are 7/1 odds and near the top of the leader board. The Yanks are 17-13 and in second place in the AL East, which is astonishing considering how many key players have been lost to injuries this season such as Aaron Judge, Luis Severino, Giancarlo Stanton, and Miguel Andujar. The Replacement Yankees stepped up big time, especially on a West Coast swing that saw the Yankees go 6-3 including a sweep of the SF Giants.
The Seattle Mariners (18-15) are only 1 game out of first place in the AL West. The Ms are 10/1 odds to win the World Series, which is amazing considering how general manager Jerry DiPoto gutted most of the team in the offseason. Only one other team in the AL, Tampa Bay, has more wins than the Mariners.
AL: Here Come the Twins
The Tampa Rays boast the best record in the AL at 19-11. They have one of the best starting rotations in the majors this year. The Rays are anchored by Tyler Glasnow, who is a perfect 5-0 with a 1.75 ERA ad 0.94 WHIP. However, even though they are at the top of the AL, the Rays are only 12/1 odds.
The Minnesota Twins have been bashing their way to big wins thus far. The Twins lead the majors in home run rate. LF Eddie Rosario connected on 11 dingers already. RF Max Kelper hit 7 HRs. Plus, there’s no less than five other players with at least 5 home runs, so, the Twins have jumped up a bit to 10/1 odds.
NL: Surprise Padres
The St. Louis Cardinals (20-10) were a sleeper pick heading into this season. The NL Central is always a tough division, no matter how good or bad the other teams may be. The Brewers are struggling to stay above .500. The Cubbies have their own set of problems. But it looks like the Cards have stayed above the fray because they were the first team to win 20 games this season. Only the Dodgers have reached the 20-win mark. The Cardinals also boast one of the best home records in baseball with a 12-4 clip.
The Philadelphia Phillies are the top team in the AL East. Futhermore, much to the delight of fans who finally got their hands on Bryce Harper. The Phillies offer up juicy value at 18/1, considering they are a division leader.
The Padres are only 40/1 to win the World Series. Manny Machado showed up late into Spring Training, but he injected some gusto into the young team. For instance, they have one of the top closers in the game with Kirby Yates. Plus, the Padres have a young Ace in the making with Chris Paddack.
