Rahm, Spieth Lead British Open DFS Picks

PGA golfers head to Royal St. George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, England, this week for the British Open. The course, hosting its 15th British Open, will play at 7,189 yards and a par of 70. For DFS purposes, some top names stand out, requiring digging deeper into the salary pool to find value. Fortunately, some quality golfers reside there, too.

Jon Rahm has been on fire this season and looks to continue that success at the British Open this week. He’s a smart bet for DFS rosters. (Image: Getty)

Consider these guys for your rosters this week.

Jon Rahm ($11,300 on DraftKings, $12,300 on FanDuel)

Rahm costs the most this week, but he’s worth every penny. After cruising to a win in the US Open, he notched a seventh at the Scottish Open last week. Rahm missed just one cut in 17 starts during the tour season and has 10 finishes inside the top 10. He’s on a roll, so just ride that train.

Jordan Spieth ($9,700 on DK, $11,600 on FD)

As good as Rahm has been, Spieth has actually gained more strokes per round than him so far this season. Despite a somewhat disappointing US Open finish of 19th, Spieth scored top 10s in five of his previous eight events as he experiences a career resurgence during the 2020-21 season. Plus, he’s won a British Open before.

Daniel Berger ($7,400 on DK, $10,000 on FD)

Berger has put up solid finishes on the season for a player this low on the salary list. He closed with a 68 on Sunday to finish seventh at the US Open, his sixth top-10 on the season. He won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February. Due to his lackluster performances in the other two majors this year – 55th at the Masters and 75th at the PGA Championship – Berger has become a forgotten man in DFS.

Harris English ($7,300 on DK, $9,200 on FD)

First and third. Not too shabby for English’s last two events. He won the Travelers Championship three weeks ago to follow up his near-miss at the US Open. His season includes two wins and seven finishes inside the top 10. English is primed and ready for a successful weekend in England.

Sam Burns ($6,300 on DK, $9,000 on FD)

Like Berger, Burns may be surprisingly affordable due to poor performance in majors this year. That includes a 155th at the PGA Championship and a 72nd at the US Open. But Burns has scored a win and five top 10s on the season in 21 starts. He’s way too cheap for this event.
