Saints and Rams Foreshadowing

The two best teams in the NFC went at it in New Orleans and the hometown Saints prevailed. Drew Brees and the Saints edged out the Rams in an 80-point shootout on Sunday in what many expect will be the inevitable NFC Championship game.

The Rams’ undefeated season came to an end, but it’s nothing to be concerned about according to head coach Sean McVay.

“We’re good, we love it,” McVay said in a post-game press conference. “You find out about yourself when you have a little bit of adversity. Everybody in that locker room is going to respond the right way and I have full confidence in that. Sometimes setbacks can be setups for comebacks and that’s the way we look at it. I think the motivation, the desire to be able to move forward in a positive way is something that we challenge everyone in our building to do.”

Rams fans will point to two main points: the game was in New Orleans and they were without Aqib Talib. The Rams secondary struggled when Talib went down with an ankle injury.

The Saints have to win the rest of their games and hope the Rams lose another if they want a shot at home field advantage. In the meantime, the Saints are working out Dez Bryant to help strengthen their thin receiving corps.

After the 45-35 victory at the Superdome, the Saints improved from 7-1 to 7-2 odds to win the Super Bowl. You can get them +350 right now in Las Vegas.

KC and New England Rematch

Ever since the Patriots and Chiefs met each other in Week 6, everyone has been saying that these two teams will meet again in the playoffs. At this juncture, it will come down to whichever team secures home field advantage in the playoffs. That will probably determine who represents the AFC this year in the Super Bowl. Expect another Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady shootout.

With only one loss to the Patriots, the Chiefs (8-1) are +450 or 9/2 odds to win the title.

The Patriots (7-2) are +600 to win Super Bowl 53. Tom Brady’s squad won six games in a row since they started the season 1-2 and everyone questioned the fate of a plus-40-year old Brady.

Super Bowl Big Movers

After starting the season 1-2-1, the Pittsburgh Steelers won four games in a row. The Steelers saw their Super Bowl odds improve from 12-1 to 8-1. The Steelers proved that they could win with James Conner at running back, but more importantly, the Steelers proved they could win without Le’veon Bell. Bell is still holding out with strong indications he will skip the entire season.

After their win in Seattle on Sunday, the L.A. Chargers saw an uptick in Super Bowl odds from 16-1 to 14-1.

The defending champion Philadelphia Eagles are currently +2500 to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
