Talking to Kora Plus, Fayza Al-Ammari, Kylian Mbappe’s mother, revealed the state of the talks between her son and the two clubs that are bidding for him this summer, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
In her interview, Al-Ammari said negotiations with both clubs have been finalized, with Kylian now needing to make a decision.
“There are no new sessions to negotiate the future of Kylian Mbappe after the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. These talks have now finished,” she assured. “We have an agreement with Real Madrid and another one with Paris Saint-Germain. The two offers are equal, there are no big differences between them. We are waiting for Kylian to choose what he wants,” she stressed.
Real Madrid is allowing Mbappe to have full control of his image rights, whereas PSG is ready to compensate him by securing a financial package. “Apart from that, the offers do not differ greatly,” Mbappe’s mother confirmed.
The battle for Mbappe: what do the bookies think?
Mbappe spent five years with PSG after moving from AS Monaco in 2017. He was initially loaned for a season, but Paris had an obligation to buy in 2018 in return for $210 million. He’s one of the best players of his generation and is largely considered capable of dominating the highest level in football in the post-Messi vs Ronaldo era.
For almost a month, bookmakers stopped allowing bets on Mbappe’s future, as Real Madrid seemed to have won the race. Based on fresh information reported by transfer market specialist Fabrizio Di Marzio, odds have now been reinstated.
On Friday afternoon, Di Marzio wrote on his Twitter account that “Mbappe is now close to stay at PSG and renew his contract.” Soon after, the player’s mother spoke to Koora Plus saying he had “agreements with both clubs.”
The bookies reacted fast and PSG is now the favorite to seal a deal, according to the odds. The giants at Parc des Princes are now at -140 to keep Mbappe, with a transfer to Real Madrid at +100. A surprise regarding Mbappe’s future is regarded as marginal. Liverpool is at +2200, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich at +4000.
Mbappe scored 36 goals in the 45 games he played for PSG this season. He also assisted 24.
