Warriors Chasing Three-Peat
Golden State swept the Cleveland Cavs in the 2018 NBA finals to win their second-straight championship. The Los Angeles Lakers were the last team to three-peat with titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002. The Warriors are attempting to become only the fifth team in NBA history to win three championships in a row.
Should Klay Stay, Or Should Klay Go?
Could this be the beginning of the end of the Warriors dynasty? Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson will be free agents at the end of the season. Which one of them is headed to Los Angeles in the off season to join LeBron and the Lakers? Which one will stay? Will KD go to the Knicks?
Will Klay Thompson stay in the Bay Area? Or head to SoCal where he has roots? Klay’s father, Mychal Thompson, played back-up center for the Lakers in the 1980s with Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Rocket Man Melo and RWB’s Thunderdome
The Houston Rockets added Carmelo Anthony in a blockbuster three-way trade. Hard to ignore James Harden and Chris Paul, but is Melo really the answer? The Rockets are the second highest Western Conference team on the board at 7-1.
The Oklahoma City Thunder went from 60-1 to 25-1 when George Paul decided to stick around instead of joining LeBron James in Los Angeles. We get to watch the RWB and PG show for another season, but the Thunder might not have enough fire power to keep pace with the Warriors and Rockets.
New Kid in Town
The Lakers were 20-1 favorites to win the championship before LeBron James rolled into Hollywood. With LBJ, the Lakers are 12-1. Lakers still have a long way to go before they can challenge the big dogs in the west.
The Cleveland Cavs opened at 30-1 before LeBron jumped ship for Los Angeles. The Cavs drastically dropped to 500-1.
The Best from the East: Celtics and Sixers
The Celtics are eager for Gordon Hayward’s return to the lineup after missing last season with a broken leg. Brad Stevens is the best coach in the Eastern Conference and the Celtics are 5-1 favorites to win.
The young Sixers got schooled in the playoffs last year. But they’ll be better prepared this time. With a squad made up of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, and Markelle Fultz, the Sixers offer tremendous value at 14-1.
