A pack of five teams, including defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia, have been tabbed to win at least 10 NFL games in the 2018 regular season. Sportsbooks released their win totals for all 32 organizations earlier this week.
In addition to the Eagles, Minnesota, New England, Pittsburgh, and Green Bay have lines of 10.5 victories for the year. All of those teams except Green Bay reached the playoffs in 2017.
What the lines are for each team differ, however. The Patriots, who lost to Philadelphia in Super Bowl 52, are the favorite to go over that total at -165. The under for them is +145. They had 13 wins last year.
The Steelers, Eagles and Vikings are all at -110 for both the over and the under. All three of those teams had 13 victories in the 2017 season.
Green Bay Bucks Trend
The Packers are the only team of the five to be an underdog on the over. They are at +125, while a -145 to fail to reach 11 wins. They have the toughest schedule in 2018, according to NFL stats.
The team finished 7-9 last year, after beginning the season, 4-1. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week 6 against Minnesota and the team proceeded to lose seven of the next 10 games.
The 34-year-old signal caller should be healthy for the start of the season, but he has a new target to throw to after losing receiver Jordy Nelson. New tight end Jimmy Graham will have to work fast to accomplish the same chemistry Rodgers had with Nelson for nine years.
Rodgers was upset when Nelson was cut by the organization, but he told reporters last week after a team work out that it is part of the business.
“I know my role and that’s to play quarterback the best I can,” Rodgers said. “The team is going to try and put the right guys in place. You have to trust the process.”
Finding Value with Teams
Some of the best bets might be with teams that didn’t have much success last season, but are poised to improve on 2017. One team that jumps out is the Cleveland Browns.
The “Mistake by the Lake,” went winless last year, but picked up quarterback Baker Mayfield and cornerback Denzel Ward in Thursday’s NFL Draft. They already have serviceable QB with Tyrod Taylor, and can help themselves in draft by getting a franchise signal caller.
The team is picked to win 4.5 games, with the over at -155. They could very easily reach that. They have two games with Cincinnati and Baltimore, as well as facing the Chargers, Raiders and Broncos.
One team that could go the other direction is the Seattle Seahawks. The team has a line of 8.5 wins and could easily slip under that amount. The Seahawks won nine games last year, but lost a couple of players and there is uncertainty on both sides of the football.
They do have games against Chicago, Arizona and Denver, which should be wins, but they also take on San Francisco twice, as well as Dallas and Minnesota.
