Next Premier League Manager to Leave: Solskjaer Leads the Sacking Race

Manchester United’s head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the new favorite to be shown the door by a Premier League club. Over the past two weeks, Norwich and Aston Villa have changed coaches. Daniel Farke and Dean Smith had their contracts canceled.

Solskjaer is now at -225 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job. Surprisingly, Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers follows at +650, while Watford’s Claudio Ranieri sits at +750.

Based on the bookmaker’s odds, Solskjaer has a 69% chance to be the next manager in the Premier League to be dismissed. Rodgers sits at 13%, while Claudio Ranieri is at 12%. Everton’s Rafa Benitez comes fourth at 9%, with the top 5 closing at Marcelo Bielsa’s 6%. The money line has Benitez at +900 to be the next coach who walks through the exit door. Bielsa is further behind at +1,500.

Man. United’s form is far from expected

United added the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane to their roster over the summer, but the team battled inconsistency in results since the start of the campaign. United have lost to Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City in the past month, adding instability to Solskjaer’s status. Under the Norwegian, United have won just one game in their last six Premier League outings. Currently, the Red Devils find themselves only sixth in the Premier League table, with 17 points in 11 games. They are nine points behind leaders Chelsea.

Despite being included on the shortlist for potential Man. United managers in case Solskjaer does leave, Brendan Rodgers is not fully safe at Leicester City himself. Leicester are only 12th in the Premier League after 11 games, seven points behind the desired Top Four.

For Ranieri, who only took charge a month ago at Warford, life was never going to be easy in the full swing relegation battle. In their four games under Ranieri, Warford have won just one, losing three, as they sit 17th, just above the drop zone.

On Saturday, Watford take on Manchester United at home, in a game that could prove decisive for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future. United are favorites to win at -200, with a Watford win at +550 and a draw at +350.

Over the previous month, the Manchester United board have reassured Solskjaer of their faith in him twice. It’s highly expected that a further misstep will now cost him his job.
