NFL Players Accusing Antonio Brown of Being Twit in Feud

Wide receiver Antonio Brown has a new team with the Raiders, but apparently he can’t let go of the past. The former Pittsburgh Steeler has taken to social media to lambast his former teammate, JuJu Smith-Schuster.

It has taken the second-year player by surprise. Smith-Schuster expressed nothing but admiration and support for Brown while he was with the Steelers, and the attacks on Twitter have seemingly come out of the blue.

The first one was two weeks ago. Brown didn’t mention his fellow wide receiver by name, but the dig was implied.

“Do not listen to any NFL player who haven’t got paid yet! They will do and say anything to make sure they going to get paid even if it’s compromising integrity or anything ! sad but true,” Brown wrote.

Attacks Intensify

Brown didn’t leave it with the one post. He added one on Sunday that read: “ Keep your emotions off the internet.” Some Pittsburgh fans responded with less than flattering replies.

Brown countered with: “Emotional Pittsburgh fans it’s over bro move on fam buy my @Raiders jersey.”

Smith-Schuster didn’t respond to either post, but a legion of trolls did, and they roasted Brown. The one post that seemed to rile up Brown was a picture of Smith-Schuster that had the headline above it: “2018 Steelers Most Valuable Player.”

Foolishly taking the bait, Brown sent out another tweet. “Emotion: boy fumbled the whole post season in the biggest game of year ! Everyone went blind to busy making guys famous not enough reality these days ! by the way check the list.”

It was a reference to the Steelers game against New Orleans in Week 16 where Smith-Schuster had a late-game fumble that led to the team’s loss. They eventually missed the playoffs.

Smith-Schuster Responds

The 22-year-old could no longer hold his tongue, but instead of lambasting Brown, as most would be tempted to do, he posted thoughtful retorts.

His first was throwing Brown’s own words back at him. “Keep your emotions off the internet,” he wrote. He followed that up with questioning why Brown would attack him.

“All I ever did was show that man love and respect from the moment I got to the league. I was genuinely happy for him too when he got traded to Oakland w/ a big contract, and now he takes shots at me on social media? Crazy how big that ego got to be to take shots at people who show you love! Smh.”

His last post was a little more biting. He quoted Mark Twain, “Never argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.”

Players Condemn Brown

It appears most players and fans are taking Smith-Schuster’s side. They are posting on Twitter or going to the airwaves to show their disappointment in Brown.

Former teammate Ryan Clark was on a sports television show and didn’t straddle the fence on who he felt was to blame.

“The world is starting to see it now,” Clark said. “Even other players around the league who have no affiliation with the Oakland raiders or the Pittsburgh Steelers there kind of over the antics. They know there is a code here that has been broken.”

Rams safety Eric Weddle said on Twitter: “No need for that. Showing true colors right here. No respect for this dude.” He also called Brown “childish.”
