Heading into Week 6 of the NFL season, we have a couple of picks for your survivor pools, including the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
If you want to fade bad teams like the Houston Texans or Jacksonville Jaguars, then fire away at the Indianapolis Colts or Miami Dolphins as your Week 6 survivor pool picks.
Week 6 is the first week of the NFL season with a bye week. Four teams are resting, which means there are two fewer games on the schedule to choose from.
NFL Week 6 Survivor Pool Picks |
Matchup | Pick | Line |
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts | Colts | IND -10 |
Kansas City Chiefs at Washington Football Team | Chiefs | KC -7 |
(UK) Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars | Dolphins | MIA -3.5 |
Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers | Steelers | PIT -5 |
So far this season, we’ve advanced with the LA Rams (Week 1), Cleveland Browns (Week 2), Denver Broncos (Week 3), Buffalo Bills (Week 4), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 5).
Consensus: Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts (1-4) are one of the highest favorites on the board. They opened as a -10 favorite over the Houston Texans, but the line is currently -9.
The Colts lost a heartbreaker on Monday Night Football when they squandered a 22-3 lead late in the third quarter against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 6, the Colts host the Houston Texans (1-4) in a battle of 1-4 teams. The Texans lost four games in a row since they picked off the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. They still have a rookie quarterback at the helm with Davis Mills. He’s played decently, but doesn’t have many offensive weapons around him.
We like the Colts in this spot because they’re probably the best 1-4 team in the league, which isn’t saying much. We’re also sticking with the simple strategy of fading the Texans for our Week 6 survivor pick. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Bet: Kansas City Chiefs
We’re not used to seeing the Kansas City Chiefs struggle with Patrick Mahomes under center. The Chiefs sunk to 2-3 after they were dominated by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football. The two teams were projected to meet in the AFC Championship game again this season, but Kansas City needs to right the ship ASAP, otherwise, they might not even make the postseason. KC lost starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, but they’re still a better team on paper than the Washington Football Team. The only problem is that this is a road game for Kansas City, which is why we initially backed off and went with the Colts instead. Then again, there’s no more home-field advantage anymore, and Kansas City is due for a huge bounce-back game, so you can back the Chiefs as your survivor selection in Week 6.
Fade the Jags: Miami Dolphins
The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) host the Miami Dolphins (1-4) on a neutral site at Tottenham Stadium in London. This marks the second of two NFL games in the UK this season. It’s another display of craptacular teams with the winless Jags battling a 1-4 team. The Dolphins are a slight favorite because their offense is in shambles without Tua Tagovailoa. However, if you back the Dolphins, it’s solely because you’re fading the Jaguars as your survivor pick.
Outside the Box: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Seattle Seahawks lost quarterback Russell Wilson for at least a month (and up to two) after finger surgery. Even though backup QB Geno Smith held his own on Thursday Night Football against the LA Rams, he has to take on the Steelers in Pittsburgh, who smell blood in the water.
Big Ben is banged up and looks awful, and JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. But the public has been betting the Steelers all week, and the line moved to -5. You’re not backing the Steelers as your survivor pick as you are fading the Seahawks with a backup quarterback. Besides, the Steelers aren’t that good this season, so when will you have the opportunity to take them off the board in Week 6 and save other teams for future survivor picks.
