Kane, 30, made NHL history by becoming only the seventh player to score at least one point in 20-straight games. He has 43 points during one of the hottest streaks of his career.

The Colorado Avalanche (26-24-11) and the Chicago Blackhawks (26-27-9) are fighting for one of the last wild card spots Western Conference playoff race. The came into the game with 61 points each and both chasing the Minnesota Wild, who hold the second wild card spot with 64 points.

The Blackhawks suffered a tough loss at home, especially to another team in the playoff hunt.

“That’s just going to be the way it is down the stretch,” Kane said. “Pretty much every game is going to be huge for us.”

The Blackhawks missed the playoffs last season for the first time in a decade. Kane is on a mission to lead them back to the postseason.

The Return of Kane

Patrick Kane, the former #1 overall pick from the 2007 NHL Draft, extended his goal-scoring streak to five games. His overall scoring streak is at 20 games and climbing.

In the second period against the Avalanche, Jonathan Toews set up Kane, who scored his 39th goal of the season. He is second-best in the NHL and only Alex Ovechkin from the Washington Capitals scored more goals this season with 43.

Kane is projected to scored 50 goals this year. His career-high is 46 goals back in the 2015-16 season.

Kane is second in overall points with 93. He trails red-hot Nikita Kucherov from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kucherov is the only player in the NHL with 100 total points. Connor McDavid from the Edmonton Oilers is third with 85.

The Scoring Streak

Kane scored 6 goals over his last five games. He also has five assists in that span. Through 11 games in February, Kane scored 10 goals and 12 assists. Over the last 15 games, the Blackhawks are 11-4 with four OT wins.

It will be almost impossible to catch the Great One’s overall scoring streak. During the 1983-84 season, Wayne Gretzky went on a heater. He scored at least one point in 51 straight games. Gretzky scored 61 goals that year and tallied 92 assists for 153 points that season. Only Mario Lemieux and Stevie Yzerman scored more than 153 points in a season.

According to the South Point Casino and Sports Book, the Chicago Blackhawks are 40/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup. The Tampa Bay Lightning are the best team in the league and the favorites to win the Cup at 5/2.
