The Memphis Grizzlies (32-31) currently occupy the #8 seed in the Western Conference playoff hunt, but they could miss the postseason due to the controversial play-in tournament. DraftKings posted a prop bet on whether or not the Grizzlies will make the playoffs.
The Grizzlies are -106 odds to make the playoffs over at DraftKings. If you want to fade the Grizzlies, they are -121 odds to miss the playoffs.
The Grizzlies are 3.5 games behind a trio of teams that are 36-28, including the Dallas Mavericks, LA Lakers, and Portland Trail Blazers. They hold a 3.5 lead over Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans (29-35) on the bubble. However, the Grizzlies are only a half-game ahead of the Golden State Warriors (32-32) and short-handed San Antonio Spurs (31-32).

With the play-in tournament, the #7 and #8 teams will square off with the winner securing the #7 seed in the postseason. The loser of the Seven-Eight Game will face the winner of the #9 and #10 teams, aka the Nine-Ten Game. The winner of that second game locks up the #8 seed.
So long as the Grizzlies hold on to the #8 seed, they’ll only need to win one game to advance to the postseason. If the Grizzlies slip into the #9 or #10 territory, they’ll have to win two games to secure a postseason berth.
On Deck: Knicks, T-Wolves, Pistons, Raptors
The Grizzlies recently choked against the Orlando Magic. They have nine games remaining on their schedule with less than two weeks remaining in the season. The final five games are against Western Conference foes. Six out of the Griz’s last nine games are against teams with losing records, but they’re 18-10 this season against sub-.500 teams.
The Grizzlies must also play two back-to-back games, including one this week against the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves (20-45) and Detroit Pistons (19-45).
The Grizzlies host the surging New York Knicks (36-28) on Monday evening. The Knicks moved into the #4 seed in the Eastern Conference, much to the surprise of everyone on the planet, let alone New York City.
Next week, the Grizzlies host four home games. They meet the New Orleans Pelicans (29-35), Dallas Mavericks (36-28), and then play back-to-back games versus the Sacramento Kings (27-37). There’s a chance the Pelicans will be out of the playoff hunt by then. Luka Doncic and the Mavericks currently occupy the #6 seed. The Mavs are fighting to avoid slipping into the #7 hole and getting sucked into the play-in tournament.
The Grizzlies end the regular season with a tough road game against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors (32-32). That final game could determine the teams in the Seven-Eight and Nine-Ten games in the play-in tournament.
The erratic Warriors are only 4-4 since mid-April after losing rookie James Wiseman to an injury. With eight games remaining, the Warriors play a back-to-back in New Orleans against the Pelicans tonight and tomorrow.
On Thursday, the Warriors return to the Bay Area. They host six home games versus the Oklahoma City Thunder (twice), Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, Pelicans, and Grizzlies.
