Tampa Bay Bucs New Super Bowl Favorite After KC’s 1-2 Start

The moment that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55, oddsmakers made the Kansas City Chiefs the outright favorite to win the next Super Bowl. After starting the season 1-2, the Chiefs saw their Super Bowl 56 odds slightly dip to +650, while the Bucs became the new consensus betting favorite at +550.

The Chiefs were the consensus Super Bowl 56 favorites across the board during the offseason, preseason, and up until the end of Week 3 before the Bucs surged ahead of them.

The Bucs won their first two games before the Los Angeles Rams handed them their first loss of the season, which ended a 16-game winning streak that began last season.

Surging: Bills, Rams, Broncos, Cards

The Buffalo Bills dropped their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but won two in a row since. The Bills high-octane offense outscored their opponents 78-21 since then, including a 35-0 blowout against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills Mafia is backing their squad, which is why their odds ticked up from +1000 to +700 odds to win their first-ever Super Bowl.

The LA Rams were a popular pick to win the championship ever since they acquired Matthew Stafford in a trade. The Rams jumped from +1400 to +800 odds to win Super Bowl 56 after a 3-0 start. They looked like a legit Super Bowl contender after an impressive 34-24 victory over Tom Brady and the Bucs.

The Denver Broncos are 3-0 and one of two undefeated teams in the AFC. The Broncos saw their championship odds jump from +4500 to +2500. But, don’t be fooled because the Broncos padded their stats against three of the worst teams in the NFL: New York Jets, New York Giants, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Arizona Cardinals are one of five undefeated teams at 3-0. The Cards saw their Super Bowl odds bump from +4500 to +3500, but they have a tough schedule ahead of them.

The Carolina Panthers are also 3-0 thanks to the resurgence of Sam Darnold, who is thankful the LOL Jets traded him instead of tormenting him with another atrocious season. The Panthers lost Christian McCaffrey for a few more weeks with a hamstring injury and their Super Bowl odds have shifted from +5000 to +6500.

Slipping: 49ers, Ravens, Pats, Bears

The San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens were both +1400 odds favorites to win the Super Bowl, but saw a minor slide to +1600 since then even though they’re both 2-1 this season.

The Seattle Seahawks (1-2) stumbled out of the gate. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks could be 2-1 if they didn’t lose to the Titans on a last-second field goal. However, the public has spoken. The Seahawks dropped from +2000 odds to +2800.

The New England Patriots (1-2) are off to a slow start under rookie quarterback Mac Jones. With Brady and the Bucs coming to town in Week 4, the Pats look like they’re headed for a 1-3 start. It’s not surprising to see New England bettors jump off the bandwagon. The Pats’ odds are trending downward from +3500 to +6500.

Big Ben Roethlisberger looked slow and sluggish in the Steelers’ last two losses. He should’ve retired last season. Aside from a surprise win in Week 1 against the Bills, the Steelers saw their title odds tank from +4500 to +10000.

Da Bears are a hot mess. Even head coach Matt Nagy doesn’t know who will start at quarterback in Week 4. Andy Dalton has a sore knee, rookie Justin Fields still isn’t ready, and Nick Foles is Nick Foles — the highest-paid third-stringer in the NFL. Even the Ditka superfans are backing off on betting Da Bears to win the Super Bowl, with the Monsters of Midway’s odds falling off the shelf from +6500 to +50000.
