21-year-old Josh Sargent netted twice as Norwich City came out 3-0 winners over Watford on Friday evening. These were Sargent’s first Premier League goals and might turn out to be a season-changer for Norwich in a tough relegation battle.
Sargent first scored after 51 minutes thanks to a brilliant backheel volley which will surely be included among the best goals of the Premier League campaign. In the 74th minute, he put Norwich even further up ahead, before Watford’s Kucka beat his own keeper to add even more misery to an already woeful night for the hosts at Vicarage Road.
Sargent joined Norwich last summer for $11 million from Werder Bremen. The American forward spent three years in Germany, playing a total of 81 games and scoring 15 goals. For Norwich, he featured 21 times, scoring a total of four goals. He first hit the net in the League Cup, also with a brace to his name. At the international level, Sargent played 19 times for USMNT, scoring five goals.
Who will get relegated this season?
Thanks to their victory over Watford, Norwich has now surpassed the “Hornets” in the Premier League table and has climbed up the league ladder outside the relegation seats. Norwich has played two more games compared to Watford and Newcastle and five more than Burnley, so the situation in the table might change in the near future.
The “Canaries” are now at -700 to drop at the end of the season, with bookies not convinced by their recent run of form. Norwich won six points out of six from their previous two Premier League games. Watford is at -330 to get relegated, with now-bottom club Burnley at -190. Newcastle stands at -120, while Everton went down to +700 from +1400 two weeks ago.
