World Series Game 4: Dodgers, Julio Urias Heavily Favored Over Tampa Bay

Julio Urias has the opportunity to put the Los Angeles Dodgers on the brink of their first championship since 1988 when they take on the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday.

The Dodgers come into the game with a 2-1 series lead after beating the Rays 6-2 in Game 3.

Buehler Strikes Out 10 in Game 3 Win

Walker Buehler gave up just one run over six innings while striking out 10 batters to get the win. Buehler became the first pitcher in World Series history to strike out at least 10 in six innings.

“I think the more you do these things, the calmer you get,” Buehler said of his latest postseason performance. “I don’t want to keep harping on it, but I enjoy doing this. And I feel good in these spots.”

Los Angeles used its lineup depth to chase Charlie Morton from the game after 4.1 innings, scoring five times off the veteran. Justin Turner began the scoring with a first-inning home run, but the Dodgers manufactured four more runs in the third and fourth innings to build a 5-0 lead. The top four hitters in the Dodgers’ lineup went a combined 7-for-17 on the night.

“We’ve put together tough ABs and battled,” Turner told reporters. “Move the ball forward and put something in play, and good things happen.”

Rays Relying on Yarbrough to Even Series

The Rays will try to slow down LA’s offense by throwing Ryan Yarbrough in Game 4. The 28-year-old made a brief appearance out of the bullpen in Game 1, but says that shouldn’t be a factor on Saturday.

“I don’t think it’ll affect me at all, especially because it was a shorter workload,” Yarbrough told reporters. “I feel good. I’m going to literally throw until they take the ball out of my hands.”

Julio Urias will take the mound for the Dodgers. Urias has compiled a 4-0 record and a 0.56 ERA in four postseason appearances this year, with most of that work coming out of the bullpen. This will be his first World Series start, though he did make three relief appearances for the Dodgers in 2018 against the Boston Red Sox.

It’s unclear how deep either starter will go, and neither manager will hesitate to go to the bullpen at the first sign of struggle. Despite that, oddsmakers see the Dodgers as holding a clear edge in the pitching matchup. DraftKings Sportsbook has made Los Angeles a -180 favorite for Game 4, with the Rays and Yarbrough fetching +150 odds as the underdog.

While Tampa Bay’s deficit in the series is just one game, the Rays have become a significant underdog. The Dodgers, who opened the series as a -200 favorite at most betting sites, are now listed at -500 over the Rays (+370) to win the World Series.
